We offer custom moulding profiles crafted from rough timber, allowing for unique framing solutions tailored to your needs. While our focus is on contemporary, minimalist profiles, we also accommodate more intricate designs, such as radius profiles and geometric angles. Each profile is meticulously crafted with attention to detail and design considerations.
We love alternatives to the traditional mitre join or additions to support the join. Frames can feature spline joinery, enhancing both aesthetics and structural integrity. Adding single, double, and triple splines, this technique adds subtle detailing to the frame while reinforcing the mitred join. Lap and butt joins, timber, brass, copper and aluminium dowel are other options.

Our conservation framing practices ensure the safety and longevity of your artwork. This approach, also known as museum-grade framing, prioritises both aesthetic and conservation concerns. While conservation framing need not be expensive, it incorporates essential elements to preserve your artwork.
A cornerstone of conservation framing is the use of fully reversible attachments to artworks. For works on paper, we employ reversible hinges made of Japanese paper with wheat starch adhesive. We use archival-grade materials throughout the framing process, including 100% cotton buffered and unbuffered museum-grade mount boards and inert polypropylene backing boards.

All End Grain frames start from raw timber, nothing is prefabricated.
We offer a variety of timbers for our custom frames, with a focus on sustainably sourced native Australian and North American hardwoods.
Our locally sourced Victorian Ash is a popular choice, known for its durability and versatility. Additionally, we offer Tasmanian Oak, prized for its light colour and subtle grain, as well as Blackwood, which boasts rich reddish-brown tones and unique grain textures.
For North American options, we feature American Hard Maple, prized for its pale, almost whitish tones and fine grain, making it ideal for showcasing artwork without overshadowing it. We also offer American Oak, known for its coarse texture and light-coloured rays, interspersed across the grain.
All our timber is sourced responsibly, ensuring sustainability and quality in every frame we create.

End Grain offers a range of finishes to complement your artwork and design preferences:
- Natural Oil: Hand-applied to create a satin sheen to accentuate the natural grain and features of our timber species. We use Osmo Polyx Oil, a natural alternative to polyurethane, derived from natural oils and waxes.
- Stains: Select from our variety of stains to add depth and tone while preserving the timber's natural beauty.
- Gallery Smooth: Achieve a contemporary look with a perfectly smooth satin lacquer finish, available in various shades of white, black, and custom colours.
- Opaque Grain: Solid tones that obscure the timber colour, enhancing the textural features of the grain, ideal for Vic Ash frames or American Oak for added effect.
- Custom Colours: Tailor-made finishes to match your artwork or project specifications, ranging from subtle to vivid hues, matched to Pantone or Dulux colours or custom samples.
